ROXY ROCA Featured in The G.O.O.D.S. Magazine December Issue
Many thanks to Rita Bee from Black Sheep Soul Radio for including ROXY ROCA in her feature article on “Hot Underground Indie Artists to Watch” in this month’s issue of The G.O.O.D.S. Magazine. Here’s what she had to say:
With influences like James Brown, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Joe Tex, Al Green, and General Johnson to just name a few, Austin, TX based band, Roxy Roca is a soul powerhouse. This eight member band hit the ground running when they made their debut at an ACL after-party and the rest was history. From that night on, Roxy Roca made their mark on the music scene, which landed them more high-profile shows with B.B. King, Fitz and The Tantrums, Mayer Hawthorne, Orgone, Honey Island Swamp Band, Brownout, The Monophonics, Maneja Beto, T-Bird and The Breaks, and others. The band was an official showcasing artist at SXSW 2012 and 2013. Roxy Roca recently released “Basement Tapes Vol. I,” a limited edition CD, which is a collection of their early recordings and is available only at shows. Be on the lookout for the band’s first full-length record that is set to be released in the summer of 2014.
