Last weekend’s show at The Parish with our good friends KP and The Boom Boom, The Digital Wild, and Madisons was a straight-up party, beginning to end. Many, many thanks to everyone that came out to the show! Check out these great photos, courtesy of our good friend Edison Carter from Bitter Kitten Media. Unfortunately, Edison got there too late to get any photos of Madisons, but trust us — they rocked the house!

Many thanks to everybody that came out to LUNA in San Antonio last weekend for our sold-out Dream Week Night Out show and helped us make it a memorable night. We were really excited to be part of Dream Week San Antonio and look forward to doing this again next year! Our good friend Stephan Pendarvis was kind enough to share these great photos from the show.

This is just a sample of all the great photos Stephan took that night. Check out the full gallery here: Roxy Roca at Luna Lounge.

SXSW 2014 Early Ratings on Hippohonk

SXSW 2014 Early Ratings on Hippohonk

SXSW is a couple months away, but it’s never too early for all the various SXSW-centric web sites to spring into action. One of our favorites is Hippohonk, where they rate all the SXSW showcasing bands on how badly they would like to go see their show. Last we checked, they had ROXY ROCA ranked at #51 out of the roughly 600+ bands they had rated so far. Nice!

About Hippohonk

Welcome to hippohonk.com, where a team of well seasoned concert-goers look at lineups to major music festivals, listen to as many bands as they can on that lineup, and then rate the bands based on how badly they would like to go see their show (as if that wasn’t obvious from the website name). While they realize this endeavor is slightly subjective and a tad narcissistic, they also realize that they have the best taste in music and are awesome, so… The system is simple, they listen to a few songs using whatever (generally cruddy) website the band has chosen to post their music, then they rate the band from 1 to 5: 5′s the best, 1′s the worst. Then they average their ratings, and put them on this amazing site for you to peruse. So, if you’re planning on going to any of these festivals, this is a great place to start.

Review of Super Soul Party 2 in We Listen Hear

Review of Super Soul Party 2 in We Listen Hear

Many thanks to Luke Murphree for the glowing review of last week’s Red River Noise Presents: Super Soul Party 2 at Spider House Ballroom with Latasha Lee & the Black Ties, ROXY ROCA, The Shears, and KP and the Boom Boom. Here’s a taste:

If James Brown were white and from Alabama, he would be Taye Cannon. Midway through the set Cannon told the crowd “Life is about recreation not animation. Find your dream and make it happen.” Cannon wasn’t just singing the good gospel. He was preaching. As he slid across the stage shaking and jiving, you can’t help but observe he has found his dream and he’s sharing it with the audience.
