Taye Cannon Interview on Muze Collective

Taye Cannon Interview on Muze Collective

Check out this awesome in-depth interview with Taye Cannon from ROXY ROCA on the Muze Collective blog (including some great photos).

It is hard to separate the singer from the person but it is evident here and soon you realize that there is more going on here than just a great band with a retro sixties jive. ROXY ROCA actually has respect for a time when music was pure. A time when a country may have been separated by racial tension but brought together by music. With an acute awareness of our tumultuous time in history, Taye wears his heart on his sleeve.

ROXY ROCA’s message is simple. It’s all about love, forgiveness and that only we can make ourselves happy as heard on their dynamic signature song Happiness is a Choice.

AL.com writer Matt Wake asks the question, “Concerts on the Dock spring 2014 preview: Who will be the next band to breakthrough after playing free Lowe Mill music series?” And then he answers it, “I think Roxy Roca might blow up.” Nice!

Ten-piece band Roxy Roca writes songs with titles like “Cornbread” and “I’m a Ram.” They also wield the punchy, professional and vintage-leaning sound you expect from a band that calls Austin, Texas, aka “The Live Music Capital of the World,” home. Fans of St. Paul & The Broken Bones and Alabama Shakes should definitely add this show to their calendars – although Roxy Roca skews more towards James Brown than either of those groups.
