We had a blast this week working with our good friend Jason Richard at Clockright Studio putting the finishing touches on our new Christmas single, “It Ain’t Christmas Without You,” backed with newly-recorded b-side “Back Door Santa.” Stay tuned for a release announcement coming soon. Meanwhile, here’s a little taste…
As we previously posted, the performance was videotaped for release on the iHeartAustin web site, and the videos are now live! We are honored to see our name up there with local and national artists like Vintage Trouble, Wild Child, Max Frost, Bobby Jealousy, Latasha Lee, Shinyribs, Courrier, The Black Angels, My Jerusalem, Letting Up Despite Great Faults, and others.

Many thanks to Emily Stanfield from iLevel 360 for the great review of our show last weekend at Lowe Mill in Huntsville, AL as part of the annual Concerts on the Dock summer music series. Here’s a little bit of what she had to say:
iLevel 360 had the opportunity to attend the live performance of Roxy Roca. The concert was amazing! It was as if someone told him to sing like his life depended on it! That is how I would describe the soulful performance Roxy Roca front man Taye Cannon gave last night. The “house” at Lowes Mill was packed with locals, family and friends who are officially in love with the band.

SXSW 2014 was an amazing, exhausting experience from start to finish — everything we’d hoped it would be! To send you on your way into your post-SXSW week of recuperation, we thought we’d share a little guerrilla-style video from yesterday afternoon’s show at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store, courtesy of Dave Bevenger. It was a truly magical day of amazing music including sets from Middle Class Murder, Rodney “The Pie Man” Henry, Big Gun Show, Nocona, WIFEE and the HUZz Band (including a cameo from the inimitable Rosie Flores!), ROXY ROCA, Sarah Borges, Drivin’ N Cryin’, Shurman, and Whiskey Sisters. Many thanks go out to Sin City Social Club, Americana Music Assoc., Luckenbach, TX, Sun Radio 100.1 fm, and Twang! And, of course, extra special thanks to Shilah Morrow. Enjoy set-closer, “Happiness is a Choice.”
Last weekend’s show at The Parish with our good friends KP and The Boom Boom, The Digital Wild, and Madisons was a straight-up party, beginning to end. Many, many thanks to everyone that came out to the show! Check out these great photos, courtesy of our good friend Edison Carter from Bitter Kitten Media. Unfortunately, Edison got there too late to get any photos of Madisons, but trust us — they rocked the house!
Special bonus: Check out this video clip of Tom’s rockin’ trombone solo on “Back from the Dead:”
We are excited to share our brand-new video for “It Ain’t Christmas Without You.” The video was shot at Shine Studio in Austin by Alice Rabbit. We had a lot of fun in the studio that day recording this song and we hope it shows. ”It Ain’t Christmas Without You” is available exclusively on “Noise to the World,” the brand new holiday album from Converse / Rubber Tracks.
“Noise to the World,” the new holiday album from Converse / Rubber Tracks is available for free streaming and download via SoundCloud as well as on vinyl and download cards distributed in Converse retail stores. The album includes new, exclusive tracks from ROXY ROCA, Warm Soda, Fresh Daily & Black Spade, Mother Merey & The Black Dirt, Workout, The She’s, and Low Fat Getting High.

Check out the new ROXY ROCA video for “Back from the Dead,” the first single from our new CD, Basement Tapes Vol. I. It just went live and is already getting a great response. Many thanks to everyone for sharing the video on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, email, etc. and helping us spread the word.
About the video
ROXY ROCA and Outlander Productions got together and decided to have a little fun and make this zombie-tastic new video for you, just in time for Halloween! We hope you have as much fun watching it as we had making it.
The video was shot at our favorite Rainey Street watering hole, The Blackheart. Watch for an appearance from Electra Avellan (best known for her roles in Grindhouse, Machete, and Machete Kills).
We recorded the song this past March during SXSW in collaboration with Converse / Rubber Tracks at Big Orange Studio in Austin (mixed and mastered by Jason Richard at Clockright Studio).
Turn it up and get down!

Last weekend’s Super Soul Party Vol. I with ROXY ROCA, Latasha Lee & the Blackties, and Afrofreque presented by Red River Noise at Spider House Ballroom was a slammin’ success. Thanks to everybody who came out and got down with us! Our good friend Manny Morales was kind enough to share this cool video of “Give a Man a Break” from our set.
