Many thanks to everybody for tuning in to our appearance on Texas Radio Live on Wednesday, October 8, broadcast live from Guero’s in Austin on Sun Radio. We had a great time playing tunes and talking about the past, present, and future of ROXY ROCA. Here is a track from the broadcast (one of our favorites, “Cornbread”) as well as some great photos, courtesy of our good friends Milton Otto and Kim Yarbrough.
The official BayFest 2014 photo galleries are now live on BayFest.com. Many thanks to official BayFest photographer Victor Calhoun for taking these great pictures!

A few weeks ago we had the good fortune to play on an amazing night of funk at Empire in Austin with Norwood’s Telepathic Funk and The Terpsichorean Nutt Generators featuring Fred Wesley, an all-star band featuring Norwood Fischer (Fishbone), Will Calhoun (Living Color), Blackbird McKnight (formerly P-Funk All-Stars), J-Ro Robinson (The Alkaholiks), Chuck Boogie (The Breakestra), and featuring special guest Fred Wesley (James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic). It was a night to remember, and we’re so glad we had some good friends on hand to take photos. This first gallery comes to you courtesy of our good friend Edison Carter from Bitter Kitten Media and features some bonus video!
The Monnalisa Bar at Hotel Sorella in Houston is one of our favorite swanky hangouts in Texas. Our show there this past August was a blast, and this time our good friend Milton Otto was on on hand to snap some great pics to remember it by!
Photos + Video from SoCo Soul Party at The Continental Club with Latasha Lee & The Black Ties and ROXY ROCA
Last month’s SoCo Soul Party at The Continental Club with Latasha Lee & The Black Ties and ROXY ROCA was a sold-out, wall-to-wall dance party, and it was also a family reunion of sorts. ROXY ROCA alumni Ryan Allen (alto sax and bari sax) and Nikolas Bouklas (tenor sax), who now play in Latasha Lee’s killer band, were able to join us on stage for a few numbers. Now THAT’S a horn section! Here are a couple photos from our set (thanks Milton Otto!) plus a couple bonus cell phone snaps. Extra bonus: a cool video clip of “Try My Love” (also thanks to Milton).
Soul Thursdays at The Blackheart just keeps on rollin’ and we hope it never stops. Every week we have more fun than the week before! Join us this Thursday and have some fun with us! Meanwhile, check out another awesome gallery of photos from our good friend Milton Otto, this time from the September 4, 2014 edition of Soul Thursday.
Our weekly residency, Soul Mondays at The Roost, has been a lot of fun and a great way to start the week. Check out this awesome gallery of photos from the July 21, 2014 edition, courtesy of our good friend Edison Carter from Bitter Kitten Media.
